This policy explains what personal information Orchard Skylights Maidstone collects when you use this website or contact us, why we collect it, and what rights you have.
1
Who we are
Orchard Skylights Maidstone installs and replaces skylights, roof windows and roof lanterns in Maidstone and the surrounding parts of Kent and beyond. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the controller of the personal information described here. There are no public premises, so we do not take visitors or post at any address. You can reach us by phone on 01622 277162, by email at info@orchardskylightsmaidstone.co.uk or by WhatsApp on 07880 284133.
2
What we collect
We collect only what you give us or what your browser sends when you visit. That means:
- the name, email address, WhatsApp number and postcode you enter in the quote form or send in a message;
- details of the room, roof and project you describe, and any photographs you choose to send;
- the preferred date and time you give for a survey;
- basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, collected by the site and its hosting.
Please do not send us sensitive information such as health details or payment card numbers. We do not need them to arrange a survey.
3
How we use it
We use your details to reply to your enquiry, to arrange a free survey, to prepare and send a written quote, to carry out and follow up any work you book, and to keep the records we need for guarantees and Building Control notifications. We also use technical data to keep the site working and secure. We do not sell your information and we do not use it to make automated decisions about you.
4
Our lawful bases
Under UK GDPR we rely on three bases. When you ask for a survey or quote, we process your details to take steps at your request before a contract. When we carry out work, we process them to perform that contract. For keeping accounts, handling complaints and running a secure website, we rely on our legitimate interests and on legal obligations. If we ever send marketing you have not asked for, we will ask for your consent first, and you can withdraw it at any time.
6
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as it takes to deal with your request, and for a limited period afterwards in case you come back with a question. Records of completed work, quotes and guarantees are kept for as long as the guarantee runs and for the period the law expects for business and tax records. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
7
Your rights
You can ask us to confirm what we hold about you and to send you a copy. You can ask us to correct anything that is wrong, to erase information we no longer need, to restrict how we use it, or to stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests. You can also ask for the information you gave us in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email info@orchardskylightsmaidstone.co.uk. We will reply within one month. We may need to confirm who you are before we release anything.
8
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including access controls on our email and messaging accounts and the security measures of our hosting. No online service is completely secure, so please keep what you send to what the job needs.
9
Cookies and links
The website uses a small number of cookies, which are explained in our cookie policy. Our pages link to official sources such as gov.uk and the Planning Portal. Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for them.
10
Complaints and changes
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first at info@orchardskylightsmaidstone.co.uk and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We may update this policy from time to time, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
