These terms cover the use of this website and the way we deal with enquiries, surveys and quotes.
1
About these terms
This website is operated by Orchard Skylights Maidstone, which installs and replaces skylights, roof windows and roof lanterns. There are no public premises. You can contact us by phone on 01622 277162, at info@orchardskylightsmaidstone.co.uk or on WhatsApp at 07880 284133. By using the site you accept these terms.
2
Using the website
The site gives general information about rooflights, roof windows, roof lanterns and the rules that apply to them. It is not professional advice for your particular house. Planning and Building Regulations depend on the property, and the position for your roof is confirmed at survey and, where needed, with your local authority. Please do not copy the content of the site or reuse our images without our written permission.
3
Surveys and quotes
A survey is free and carries no obligation. After the survey we send a written quote that describes the product, the work and the price. The quote is fixed for the work it describes. If something unforeseen is found once the roof is opened, we will tell you before any extra work is carried out and agree it in writing. A quote stays open for the period shown on it.
4
Booking work
A contract is formed when you accept the written quote and we confirm a date. Products that are made to measure are ordered after acceptance, so please check dimensions and specification before you agree. Any payment schedule will be set out in the quote.
5
Access and your property
You agree to give us access to the property, the roof and the room below on the agreed dates, and to clear furniture from the working area where we ask. You also confirm that you own the property or have the owner's permission for the work. If the work needs planning permission, listed building consent or another approval, we will confirm it at survey, and the work will not start until the approvals are in place.
6
Building Control
Where the work is notifiable, we handle the Building Control notification. The local authority or a registered building control approver carries out the inspection and issues the completion paperwork.
7
Guarantee
Our workmanship is covered by a 10-year guarantee in writing. The coverage, the exclusions and how to claim are set out on the guarantee page. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
8
Cancelling
If you sign a contract away from our premises, which includes in your own home, you normally have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. We will give you the details with the quote. If you ask us to start work within that period, you may have to pay for work already done. Made-to-measure goods may be excluded from the right to cancel once they have been ordered.
9
Our responsibility
We are responsible for work that falls below the standard the law requires, and nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence. We are not responsible for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen, or for events outside our control such as severe weather or supplier delays.
10
Complaints
If something is not right, please follow our complaints procedure.
11
Law and changes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. We may update them from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version.
